The current study aims to examine learning-teaching and evaluation methods of Korean music at primary schools by analyzing the ‘music in daily life’ domain based on comprehensive understanding of the 2015 Revised Music Curriculum. Its findings can be encapsulated as follows. The ‘music in daily life’ domain under the 2015 Revised Music Curriculum is characterized by the presentation of specific ways to utilize music both inside and outside the school, promotion of Korean music in daily life and recognizing values of Korean music, and the detailed descriptions of activities used inside and outside of school and students’ expected learning outcomes through increasing the number of achievement standards. The followings are teaching-learning and evaluation methods, corresponding to the aforementioned characteristics of the ‘music in daily life’ domain. Firstly, it is necessary to consider the convergent aspect, as a 'historical and cultural' product which is the essential nature of Korean music, and the integrative aspect, related to other subjects in a process of appreciating Korean music in real life and applying it to one’s life. Secondly, teaching-learning strategies for the ‘music in daily life’ domain should be established by integrating with the contents of the Korean music expression and appreciation domain. Thirdly, evaluation should be made as an extension of class to promote learner’s growth with emphasis on the integrative aspect of evaluation and teaching-learning. Fourthly, emphasis should be placed on evaluation in the affective domain, as an attitude of delighting in music. In order to properly implement these ideas in the field, it is vital to construct the foundation of the ‘music in daily life’ domain and enhance educators’ competencies in teaching Korean music. In addition, the portion of Korean music in textbooks should be increased, and various teaching-learning and evaluation methods suitable for the purpose of the curriculum should be presented.
