국립국악원 개발 ‘교실국악기’ 활용방안 －모티브 악기인 아박, 향발, 운라를 중심으로－
유아국악교육에서 국악기 활동은 우리악기의 음색, 재료와 특징 등을 알 수 있을 뿐만 아 니라 청감각 훈련에도 매우 소중한 활동이다. 그러나 유아국악교육에 사용되는 악기는 몇몇 타악기에 그치고 있다. 제한적으로 운영되고 있는 국악기 활동에 유용한 교육용 국악기가 필요하다. 이와 같은 교육용 국악기 개발의 필요성과 교육계의 요청을 바탕으로 국립국악원 악기연구소에서는 국악기 중 목재 무율타악기 ‘아박’, 금속 무율타악기 ‘향발’, 금속 유율타악 기 ‘운라’를 ‘교실국악기’ 모티브로 결정하고 교육용 국악기 3종을 개발하였다. 본 논문은 국립국악원에서 개발한 ‘교실국악기 아박’, ‘교실국악기 향발’, ‘교실국악기 운 라’ 등 교육용 국악기 3종을 중심으로 교육용 국악기의 활용방안을 제시하는 데에 목적을 두고 있다. ‘교실국악기’가 유용하게 활용될 수 있도록 악기연주에만 한정하지 않고 유아교육 현장에 적용 가능한 다양한 교육적 접근방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 이에 활용방안은 ‘교실국 악기’ 탐색, ‘교실국악기’ 합주, ‘교실국악기’ 국악극으로 구성하고 그에 따른 접근방법을 제 시하였다. 먼저 ‘교실국악기’ 탐색은 동영상시청과 미술활동으로 구성하였고, ‘교실국악기’ 합주에서는 숫자보와 그림악보를 활용하여 유아들의 연주가 원활할 수 있도록 하였다. 마지 막으로 ‘교실국악기’ 국악극을 통해 악기연주 뿐만 아니라 동작을 표현하고, 노래를 부르는 등 음악적 표현을 풍부하게 하여 음악적 흥미도를 높이고자 하였다. 이와 같은 활용방안은 ‘교실국악기’의 활용 가능성과 그 의미 발견이라는 일차적 목적에 따라 활동방법을 제시하는 데에 의미를 두고자 하였다. 이상의 내용은 새로운 교육용 국악기 개발 및 유아교육현장에서 활용 가능한 구체적인 프 로그램 개발과 활용방안 모색 등을 위한 방향 및 시사점을 제시하는 데에 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.
Utilization Plans for ‘the Classroom-Korean Musical Instruments’ Developed by the National Gugak Center －Focused on Abak, Hyangbal, and Ulla as Motif Musical Instruments－
Korean musical instruments activities in early childhood music education are valuable not only for learning tones, materials, and characteristics of Korean musical instruments but also for training auditory sensation. However, the instruments used in early childhood music education are limited to some percussion instruments. Korean musical instruments for educational purposes are needed for the instrumental activities running in limited operation. In response to the necessity of developing Korean musical instruments for educational purposes and the request from the educational community, the Musical Instrument Research Institute of the National Gugak Center decided on a wooden, non-pitched percussion ‘abak,’ a metal, non-pitched percussion ‘hyangbal,’ and a metal, pitched percussion ‘ulla’ as a motif of ‘the classroom-Korean musical instruments’ and developed the three Korean musical instruments for educational purposes. This study aimed to present utilization plans for educational instruments focusing on the three classroom-Korean musical instruments developed by the National Gugak Center, ‘classroom-hyangbal,’ ‘classroom-abak,’ and ‘classroom -ulla.’ It also aimed to present various educational approaches applicable to the early childhood education field, not limited to instrument playing, so that ‘the classroom-Korean musical instruments’ could be well utilized. To this end, it presented the utilization plans consisting of exploration, ensembles, and Korean musical dramas of ‘the classroom-Korean musical instruments’ and suggested the following approaches. First of all, the exploration of ‘the classroom-Korean musical instruments’ comprised video-viewing and art activities. ‘The classroom-Korean musical instruments’ ensemble utilized numbered and pictorial notation to facilitate children’s performance. Lastly, the drama of ‘the classroom-Korean musical instruments’ helped increase children’s musical interest by enriching their musical expressions, such as expressing their movements and singing songs. It is believed that such utilizations are meaningful in presenting activity methods based on the primary purpose of discovering the availability and meanings of ‘the classroom-Korean musical instruments.’ It is expected that the study helps suggest directions and implications for the development of new Korean musical instruments for educational purposes, the development of specific programs available in early childhood education, and exploration of utilization plans.
