I started this study from the questions what we can do to keep our valuable cultural assets considering local folk songs have lost its independence, whether local folk songs can exist in our contemporary lives. And I reviewed all precedent issues of the restoration of Gyenog-gi folk songs and intangible cultural assets which are actual examples and representative result of the restoration. I could identify that more fundamental approaches are needed to see whether the local folk songs are presented in the form of artwork, what should be the form and where should be the timeline of restoration because concepts and values of the world cultural assets not only national cultural assets are deferred. Gyenog-gi folk songs could secure its identity through being nominated as municipal and provincial intangible cultural assets rather than national intangible cultural assets. We could have seen increase in designation of Gyenog-gi folk songs as cultural assets but it is not clear this increase will continue in the future. Emphasis on academic research, establishment of cultural asset management after designation, securing linkage between individual research and authority businesses, securing local experts, introduction of secondary research outputs based on current outputs, businesses of who are leading the restoration projects are the answers to the question what we can do now. In addition, development plan, educational meaning and usage are proposed in the main body. This study enabled to identify the power of traditional music although it exists today however various preparation and solutions are needed for positive expectation.
